I love the 300 Win Mag cartridge and am confident of it's capability to take down any game in North America, especially when fired through a Sako. FINNFIRE BOLT-ACTION RIFLE Mini-Sporter built for rimfires on a scaled-down Sako design. Perhaps they are more popular in other parts of the country. FINNBEAR CARBINE NiB 1190 Ex 926 Gd 572 Same as Finnbear. I'm just surprised that over the years I've seen so few of them while hunting. Tikka rifles are both innovative and durable, but most importantly, they can be. Every Tikka rifle has to go through accuracy testing to prove the rifle can perform under 1 M.O.A accuracy prior to being sold anywhere. We take pride in our products and deliver what we promise. I have fired a couple of Sakos in the past and was very impressed with them. All Tikka rifles are engineered and manufactured by Sako, in Finland. These rifles are as close to custom quality as you can get out of the box and are tack drivers. New Sakos have a variety of models to choose from that I feel are reasonably priced and affordable for most, but aren't cheap either. The pre-Garcias do command a 25% premium, but old, or new they are strikingly great looking rifles and look prettier when holding them in your hands in person. I haven't been around any other 50 year old unfired Sakos and just can't bring myself to fire it, though it is tempting. I know they're being manufactured again, but have no experience with them. I love the older Redfields and have a few on my other rifles. The scope is a 3x9 Redfield and both were manufactured in the 1960's. The Fins make beautiful guns and this one is no exception. Fortunately I don't lack other rifles to keep me busy shooting. I've kept this buried in the back of my safe, except for cleaning from time to time, with some other safe queens I've never fired. the 208 A-Max shoot good but not great. This is a like new unfired pre-Garcia Sako Finnbear Deluxe in 300 Win Mag. H1000 is the only powder that I found that is capable of great accuracy and single digit SD's ,the only other powder in the realm with this combo was RL25 and SD's in the teen's. A 35fps SD is not acceptable with a combo that is capable of 1000yd accuracy, with my current rifle shooting the 210gr VLD with H1000 the muzzle velocity is only 2865fps but the SD is 8 fps.Īt 1000yds you will get significantly more vertical in your group's with a 35fps SD. The 210gr VLD Berger is a long range bullet, it is also heavy for the bore size in a 30cal.
You made my point.35fps for a SD would be incredible in my 220 swift with 55gr bullets, 35fps SD would also be good in the 300WM if you are shooting 165gr bullets. I wonder if those two factors have more than a little to do with results? We are also fairly high here, altitude wise, at 3600 feet. I will add that this was done in the fall, with cooler temperatures. I definitely agree with trying a few types out. We ran 210 Berger's in his and those worked better.
However in an identical rifle my buddy has the same round sucked compared to my barrel. The SD on my 208 A-max load was around 35fps. I've used 190 SMK in my 300WM with a 30' 1-10 Kreiger for years and it was extremely accurate. I have decent chrony, but nothing fancy, and it gets used every time I work up loads. What load (grains?) should I start with? I'm shooting Fed brass, and I just ran out and got some H1000. Re: having difficulties with 210 VLD in 300 Win mag RL22 works great with 165gr-180gr bullets as does Ramshot Magnum but with the Berger 210gr VLD I tried many powders in several different rifles of 300WM chambering and THE powder for this combo is H1000.ītw try H4350 if you must, but you will find the SD so high that even if it shoots good at 100 yards you wont hit much beyond 600yds.(defeats the purpose of using a high B.C.bullet) I tried to help you out with this before but you listened to others and paid no attention to my post obviously. The rest was rock solid, and the rifle is a great shooter with 180 grain loads.
So I'm wondering, should I try a quicker powder? Something like 66.5 grains of H4350? Sako 85 Finn Bear Finnbear 300 Win Mag 24In Barrel - 1,770.77.
